Healthcare software that gives clinicians their time back
Patient apps, telemedicine platforms and clinic systems designed for tired staff and worried patients, not for a demo. We built Doctroo, a full telemedicine product, so we know where these projects get hard.
Work out what no-shows cost your clinic
The human side of the numbers
Behind every empty slot is a patient who needed care, and another who could have had it.
A patient forgets a follow-up because the reminder went to an old number. The slot sits empty while someone else waits three weeks. That evening, the doctor is still at the kitchen table finishing notes the system should have made easier.
None of this is a technology problem on its own. It is what happens when software is designed around records instead of people. Good healthcare software reduces the small daily failures that wear everyone down, and the figures below show how large those small failures become.

- 18.8%of booked appointments ended in a no-show across ten outpatient clinics.Kheirkhah et al., BMC Health Services Research, 2016
- $196was the average cost of a single missed appointment in that study, in 2008 dollars.Kheirkhah et al., BMC Health Services Research, 2016
- 43.2%of US physicians reported at least one symptom of burnout in 2024.American Medical Association, 2024
- 20.9%of physicians spent more than eight hours on the EHR outside normal working hours.American Medical Association, 2023
What we build
Custom healthcare software, from the first patient tap to the clinic's back office
Most clinics do not need a giant platform. They need the one or two systems that remove the most friction, connected properly to what they already run. These are the projects we are asked about most.
Patient apps
Booking, reminders, prescriptions, test results and family profiles in one mobile app that older patients can actually use.
Mobile Apps DevelopmentTelemedicine platforms
Video consultations, e-prescriptions, payments and follow-ups. Our Doctroo project connects patients with licensed professionals in this way.
Mobile Apps DevelopmentEHR and lab integration
HL7 and FHIR connections so that records, labs and billing stop being typed in twice.
Software DevelopmentScheduling and no-show reduction
Smart reminders, self-rescheduling and waitlists that fill a cancelled slot before it goes empty.
Software DevelopmentAI for documentation and triage
Drafted clinical notes, intake summaries and symptom routing, always with a clinician making the final decision.
AI DevelopmentOperations dashboards
Live views of utilisation, wait times and revenue, so that managers can act on this week and not last quarter.
Software Development
What has to be right in healthcare software
Patient data has stricter rules than almost anything else we handle. We design for these from the first architecture session. Your compliance lead or counsel signs off on the final position.
- HIPAA
- For US patient data: access controls, audit trails, encryption and business associate agreements with every vendor involved.
- GDPR and local law
- Consent, data residency and retention rules in Europe, the Gulf and India differ, so we map them before choosing where data lives.
- HL7 and FHIR
- Standards-based interfaces keep you free to change EHR vendors and connect new labs later.
- Accessibility
- Large tap targets, readable type and screen reader support, because patients are often older, unwell or anxious.
How a healthcare project runs with us
Sit with the people
We map one real patient journey and one real clinic day before suggesting any features.
Settle data and compliance
What is stored, where, who can see it and which systems it must talk to.
Ship a small version
One workflow goes live with real staff, usually scheduling or intake, so feedback is about reality.
Extend and support
Add integrations and AI once the basics are trusted, with monitoring and security updates included.
Healthcare & Life Sciences: common questions
How much does healthcare software development cost?
It depends on scope more than anything else. A focused patient booking app costs far less than a telemedicine platform with EHR integration. Tell us the workflow you want to fix and we will reply with a written estimate, without a sales call.
Can you build HIPAA-compliant software?
Yes, we build to HIPAA technical safeguards: encryption, access control, audit logging and vendor agreements. Compliance also depends on your own policies and training, so we work alongside your compliance lead. We do not issue legal certification.
Can you integrate with our existing EHR?
Usually, yes. Most modern systems offer FHIR or HL7 interfaces. Older systems may need a custom connector, which we scope after looking at what your vendor exposes.
How long does a telemedicine app take to build?
A first usable version with booking, video and payments typically takes a few months. Prescriptions, lab connections and regulatory review add time. We give a dated plan once the scope is agreed.
Do reminders really reduce no-shows?
The evidence is mixed. Some reviews report clear reductions from phone and SMS reminders, while one large clinic study found little effect. That is why we pair reminders with easy rescheduling and waitlists, then measure your own numbers.
Have you built healthcare products before?
Yes. Doctroo is a telemedicine product in our portfolio, and Synapto Healthcare's quote further down this page describes the automation work we did for them. You can ask for a live walkthrough of Doctroo further down this page.
