English text is supported. Other languages may be recognised poorly.

Clear, well-lit, straight images of printed text give very good results. Handwriting, low light and decorative fonts reduce accuracy.

Crop to the text, increase contrast with Adjust Brightness & Contrast, and make sure the image is the right way up.

For PDFs with a text layer use PDF to Text. For scanned PDFs, convert the pages with PDF to PNG, then run OCR here.
