Development for UK companies, with your morning covered from India
Srinagar is four and a half to five and a half hours ahead of London, so our working day covers your morning and early afternoon. We build web applications, custom software and AI features for British businesses, with the data-transfer paperwork handled properly.
Codemites is headquartered in Srinagar, India, with a second office in Mississauga, Canada. We have no office in the United Kingdom; we work with clients here remotely. India is four and a half to five and a half hours ahead of London.
For a UK company, working with a team in India raises two practical questions: when can we talk, and can we lawfully send them our data? The first has a simple answer. Our working day in Srinagar starts before London wakes up and finishes mid-afternoon UK time, so a morning call reaches people still at their desks.
The second needs paperwork. Sending personal data from the UK to India is a restricted transfer under UK GDPR. We work with your data protection lead on the transfer agreement and the risk assessment, and where we can, we design the system so that personal data never needs to leave the UK at all.
What UK buyers ask us to account for
These are the three topics that most often shape a UK brief.
International data transfers
To send personal data to a country without UK adequacy, you need a safeguard such as the International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU clauses, and a transfer risk assessment first. We complete our side of both.

The government-backed minimum standard for organisations of every size, built on five technical controls. Many public-sector and enterprise buyers ask suppliers for it. We build to those controls, so your own certification is easier.

Financial firms must set high standards of protection for retail customers and put their needs first. For software, that means clear journeys, fair defaults and data showing how customers actually move through the product.

British Summer Time narrows the overlap by an hour, because India does not change its clocks.

Questions UK businesses ask
Is it legal to send our customer data to a team in India?
Yes, with the right safeguards. It is a restricted transfer under UK GDPR, so you need a transfer mechanism such as the IDTA, and a transfer risk assessment. We sign our part and can often design the system so personal data stays on UK servers.
When can we talk?
Our Srinagar office works 9 am to 7 pm India time, which is about 3:30 am to 1:30 pm in London in winter, and an hour later in British Summer Time. UK mornings are the easiest time for calls.
Are you Cyber Essentials certified?
We do not claim that certification. We build to its five technical controls, and we can document how the system we deliver meets them for your own assessment.
Do you invoice in pounds?
Ask us when we scope the project. Currency and payment method are set in each contract.
