A first product for Austin founders, scoped to what you can afford to learn from

We build MVPs, SaaS platforms and custom business applications for Austin startups and growing firms. The first milestone is the smallest version that tells you something real about your customers.

Codemites is headquartered in Srinagar, India, with a second office in Mississauga, Canada. We have no office in Austin; we work with clients here remotely. Our Mississauga office is an hour ahead of Central Time.

Austin has plenty of people with a product idea and a narrow window to prove it. The mistake we see most is a first version that tries to do everything, runs out of money halfway, and teaches the founder nothing.

We scope differently. Before quoting, we ask what you need to learn: will people sign up, will they pay, will they come back? The first milestone is the smallest product that answers that question, at a fixed price. If the answer is yes, we keep building with you.

How a first version comes together

  1. Scoping call

Thirty minutes on what you need, who will use it and what has to be true at launch.

  2. Written scope and estimate

Milestones, what each one delivers, the acceptance criteria and the price.

  3. Build in milestones

A working demo at every milestone, weekly written updates and a shared project board.

  4. Launch and support

Release, handover of code and credentials, then maintenance on agreed response times.

Texas rules that apply sooner than you think

Texas privacy and AI law reach small companies in specific cases.

Texas Data Privacy and Security Act

Small businesses, as the federal Small Business Administration defines them, are generally exempt, with one exception: a small business must get consent before selling a consumer's sensitive data, such as precise location or a child's data. If your MVP collects location, plan for consent.

Texas Responsible AI Governance Act

HB 149, which regulates the use of artificial intelligence systems in Texas and carries civil penalties, took effect on 1 January 2026. If your product makes decisions with AI, check how it applies before launch.

Questions from Austin founders

How much does an MVP cost?

It depends on what the first version has to prove. We price the first milestone as a fixed scope after a scoping call, so you know the number before any work starts.

Do I own the product if I stop working with you?

Yes. Once each milestone is paid, the code and designs made for it are yours, set out in a written assignment, and we hand over the repository and credentials.

Can you help with technical due diligence for investors?

We document the architecture, hosting and third-party services of what we build, which is what most investors' technical reviews ask for.
